Precious enough that not only players and antique collectors, but even wood collectors, have long dreamed of owning one. For a very long time, artists have always reserved a singular, exalted place for the wood used to build this instrument. Frankly, its sound is simply far superior to that of other common woods. A wide tonal range, a depth of soul that knows how to sing, proudly showing off its world-class voice. So much so that anyone who hears it, who holds it just once in their hands, comes away with a special and tender love for it. And there is more: it is not merely beautiful in sound, but also rare. Today this wood is listed in the Red Book of protected species whose harvesting is banned. For that reason, finding fine sets of timber like Brazilian Rosewood was no easy matter even back then, let alone having them brought to life by the masterful hands of the great luthiers building guitars in the 1970s and 1980s. Origins: In 1967, Yamaha established a guitar research division with the aim of developing high-end instruments. They invited the great Spanish master Eduardo Ferrer to come and learn from his finest construction techniques. Pictured above is a deeply valuable vintage guitar that inherits this very lineage.
